While Billy King scored twice as Pat’s thrashed Bray by six goals to nil.
But tie of the night was at Lissywollen where there were eight goals, three of them in injury time, a red card, and a goal from the halfway line.
Waterford eventually beat Athlone 4-2 on penalties.
UCD beat First Division leaders Shelbourne 2-nil, while Wexford beat Cabinteely by 3-goals to nil.
Non league sides Kilnamanagh and Maynooth University Town also progressed, courtesy of wins over St. Kevin’s Boys and Malahide United.
There’s one all-Premier Division tie among today’s three cup matches, with Drogheda United playing host to Derry City.
Elsewhere, Limerick junior club Fairview Rangers entertain top flight Finn Harps.
And Longford Town entertain Bangor of the Leinster Senior League.
