Shamrock Rovers' title party has been put on hold.
Second placed Derry City handed the league leaders their third defeat in a row thanks to a 2-1 victory at the Ryan McBride Brandywell.
It leaves 3 points between the sides but the Hoops have a better goal difference and a game in hand over their chasers.
The win also means Derry are qualified for European football next season.
Meanwhile Shelbourne came from 2-0 down to beat Bohemians 3-2 in the Dublin Derby.
John Martin, Harry Wood and Kerr McInroy gave the champions the 3 points and the bragging rights at Dalymount Park.
