In the SSE Airtricity League, Champions Shamrock Rovers had to settle for a draw as they kicked off the defence of their title against Sligo.
Graham Burke gave the Hoops a first half lead but Lukas Browning equalised in second half stoppage time.
Rovers' Roberto Lopes was given a red card in the second half.
