Republic of Ireland retain League B status

The Republic of Ireland retained their League B status in the Nations League last night.

Evan Ferguson and Adam Idah both found the net in a 2-1 victory over Bulgaria at the Aviva Stadium.

The result completed a 4-2 win on aggregate.

Elsewhere, Portugal beat Denmark by five goals to two in the quarter-finals of the Nations League.

That means the Portuguese will be in Ireland's World Cup qualifying group along with Armenia and Hungary.

Steve Clarke's side slumped to a 3-nil defeat to Greece last night to lose the tie 3-1 on aggregate.
