The 42.ie is reporting that Munster Rugby has offered voluntary redundancies to staff as the province looks to address financial challenges.
Employees were called to a meeting yesterday where the plans were outlined.
It’s understood the move is part of efforts to reduce costs after losses of up to €1 million last season, along with lower-than-expected commercial and sponsorship revenues.
Senior players and coaching staff are not expected to be directly affected, although there had already been plans to reduce squad numbers slightly next season.
Munster says it hopes the process will remain voluntary and won’t need to move to compulsory redundancies.
In a statement, the province says revenues have fallen below forecast in a challenging economic climate, and the move is aimed at putting the organisation on a more sustainable financial footing.
The IRFU says it will continue to support Munster as part of wider efforts to address financial pressures across all four provinces.
