RÁS MUMHAN GETS UNDERWAY TODAY
The International Dornan Rás Mumhan gets underway today, Friday April 3rd, with four days of elite racing across Kerry, Cork and Limerick. Organisers say more than 150 riders are involved this year, with teams from Ireland joined by international visitors from countries including Norway, the Netherlands, Portugal and Britain.
Racing begins today with Stage 1A, the Team Time Trial from Ballybunion to Asdee, before Stage 1B later this afternoon from Asdee to Knockanure. It means an immediate test for the general classification on day one of the Easter weekend event.
Tomorrow, the race comes to South Kerry with Stage 2 from Killarney to Portmagee, while Sunday’s stage runs from Millstreet to The Kerryman’s Table. The race then concludes on Easter Monday with the traditional finale into Killorglin.
Rás Mumhan has built a strong reputation as a launchpad for top riders, with former champions and standout performers going on to WorldTour level in recent years. This year’s edition also carries a prize fund of 17 thousand euro.
Among the riders expected to feature strongly are Daire Feeley, Jack Conroy and Liam Crowley, with plenty of attention also on the younger Irish talent coming through the ranks.
