The Dornan Ras Mumhan 2026 kicked off with a Team Time Trial, with the first team hitting the road hard at 12:32.
In first place across the line- Pinergy Orwell Wheelers with a time of 10’06’’32. This team with a leader of Evan Keane, heading into stage 1(b) in the yellow jersey. Second team across the line was Limburg Cycling selection just approx. 5 seconds off the pace. In third we had Team Dan Morrissey, with Matteo Cigala, winner of a stage last year. Only one second between second and third place proving that the competition is fierce.
Foran CC, with Dom Jackson winner of Kerry Man’s Table stage in 2024, came in fourth 7 seconds off the pace behind Team Dan Morrissey.
Todays second stage departed Asdee for the village of Knockanure, the bunch travelling at 50 -60 kmphm, along the coastal road through Ballylongofrd, Tarbert and on to glin, before the start of the first major climb of the day.
Riders were discarded from the main peleton from the outset, with the main penelton staying relatively intact.
After 56km a 14 man break nipped of the front of the peleton with the yellow jersey, Evan Keane, chasing in the main bunch. Some notable riders in the breakaway, Josh Calally of Velo Performance Racing team, Liam Crowley of Pinergy Orwell Wheelers and Hugh Og Mulhern of Dornan Cycling Munster trying to make their mark on the days proceedings.
With a 43 second lead on the chasing peleton, and 300 metres to go, Josh Calaly went long to take an impressive stage victory in an uphill finish in stage 1(b) of the Dornan Ras Mumhan.
