World champion Max Verstappen has started the Formula One season by securing pole position for the Bahrain Grand Prix.
The Red Bull driver finished ahead of team-mate Sergio Perez in qualifying for the opening race of the campaign.
Charles Leclerc was third for Ferrari with Carlos Sainz fourth and Aston Martin's Fernando Alonso fifth.

George Russell was sixth and his Mercedes colleague Lewis Hamilton claimed seventh place on the grid.
