Kate O'Connor is in the silver medal position after four events in the Heptathlon at the World Athletics Championships in Tokyo.

Personal bests in the 200-metres, 100-metres hurdles, and high jump sees the Dundalk athlete sit second in the standing, just ahead of two-time world champion Katarina Johnson-Thompson.

Earlier, Brian Fay, Andrew Coscoran and Darragh McElhinney missed out on semi-final spots in the five-thousand metres.
