New dissent rules to come into effect for National League finals

Hurling's new dissent rules will come into effect for the upcoming National League finals.

A motion was strongly backed at Congress to introduce a 30-metre penalty for arguing with officials.

The GAA's director general Tom Ryan says they had considered bringing in the rule sooner, but he feels a 28-day period was needed to avoid 'short circuiting the process'.
