The GAA's National Demographics Committee chairman Benny Hurl has warned that many of their clubs won't survive the next decade.
He says half the population of the country moving to within an hour of Dublin has created a clear existential threat for the association.
Only 18 percent of the GAA's clubs currently exist within that area, and the GAA has committed to growing new ones in the coming years.
Hurl added that the situation has created 'monumental challenges' for clubs in both rural and urban areas.
