That's after a 1-13 to 1-12 victory over Kenmare Shamrocks.
Kenmare led by double scores, 0-4 to 0-2, after 8 minutes. When the water break arrived Kenmare were ahead by a single point at 5 to 4. Approaching half-time a Paul O'Connor goal for Kenmare put them in front by 1-7 to 0-7. HT: Kenmare 1-7 Mid Kerry 0-7.
A low scoring third quarter meant a 4 point lead for Kenmare at the 2nd half water break; 1-10 to 0-9.
The tie was turned on its head upon the resumption. The Kenmare lead quickly evaporated as a Gavin O'Grady penalty was followed by the equalising score. Mid Kerry had the next 3 points as well to open up a 1-13 to 1-11 lead come the 55 minute mark. The gap was cut to two heading into 6 minutes of added on time. Another Kenmare point followed and there was the minimum between the sides after 63 minutes. That concluded the scoring.
