McSharry misses out on place in final

Sligo swimmer Mona McSharry has missed out on a place in the women's 100-metre breaststroke final at the World Aquatics Championships.

The Olympic bronze medallist recorded the fastest time in the heats this morning but finished 6th in her semi-final and 11th overall.

In the women's 200-metre individual medley final, Dubliner Ellen Walshe came home in 8th position

Evan Bailey was 16th overall in the men's 200-metre freestyle, with the Wexford man equalling the national record of 1-minute-46.66 seconds in his heat.
