McIlroy and Lowry come up short in bid to retain Zurich Classic of New Orleans

Rory McIlroy and Shane Lowry came up short in their bid to retain the Zurich Classic of New Orleans title last night.

They finished on 22-under-par after a final round of 72.

Andrew Novak and Ben Griffin were the winners on 28-under-par.

Leona Maguire ended the week in a tie for 67th at the Chevron Championship in Texas.

The Cavan native carded a final round of 75 to finish on eight-over-par overall.

Mao Saigo was the winner having finished on seven-under-par.

The Japanese golfer won a five-way play-off to take the title.
