RACING

There's a seven race card at Roscommon this afternoon.

The feature is the Grade 3 Kilbegnet Novice Chase, where Willie Mullins saddles the 11/8 favourite Andalusa.

That race goes off at 3.15, while the opening race gets under way shortly.

It is as though Dingle rider Jack Kennedy has never been away. His amazing return from injury yielded another winner in Listowel's opening mares' maiden hurdle on Monday, 5-1 chance Felicidad getting a very well-judged ride to beat Beret Rouge at 11-8. He rode for boss Gordon Elliott here.

Monday was quite a remarkable day for the region as Athea-based Eoin McCarthy saddled a winner at no less than 125-1 in the two-mile maiden hurdle, Le Figaro Faoudel coming home under Kevin Brouder, who hails from Listowel. McCarthy said: "He broke my heart since we bought him with little niggles. He worked awfully well last week. Kevin gave him a super ride. We might look to the sales with him now."

Brian Cooper is ticking along nicely. The Tralee rider gave Balinaboola Steel a sweet steer to get up, favouring the near side, in the staying handicap hurdle on Wednesday at Listowel for Shark Hanlon, who has been so good to the rider. He was sent off 17-2.

Killarney trainer Ian O'Connor has done a great job with Ramiro, which scored again in the David McManus Bookmaker Handicap, given a fine ride by Gearoid Brouder, brother of Kevin.
Robert Tyner produced Exit To The West in excellent shape to take division one of the Racing Behind Closed Doors Handicap Hurdle Saturday at Listowel, Tralee rider Phillip Enright doing the steering at odds of 13-2.
