RUGBY

Munster have made five changes to their side for Sunday's Pro 14 interprovincial derby with Connacht at the Aviva Stadium.

All five changes come in the pack, with Tadhg Beirne starting in the second row for his first Munster appearance in nine months.

Jeremy Loughman, John Ryan, Fineen Wycherley and Chris CloetE are also included.

A win for Munster will guarantee their semi final place.

Former Munster pair Conor Oliver and Sammy Arnold will make their first starts for Connacht in that game.

Andy Friend has ahanged all but one of his team, with Eoghan Masterson the only man retained.

Tiernan O'Halloran and Quinn Roux are brought in while new signing Abraham Papali'i (PRON: Papa- Lee-Ee) makes his debut at the base of the scrum.

Ian Madigan has been named to start for Ulster - against his former side Leinster - tomorrow.

The outhalf is one of 8 changes made by Dan McFarland, with Rob Herring and Eric O'Sullivan among those also to come in.

Jacob Stockdale continues at full back.

Meanwhile it's all change for Leinster, with last week's starting 15 players all given the week off.

Ed Byrne captains the side, with Sean Cronin, Devin Toner, Max Deegan and Rob Kearney among the players given starts.

Both Leinster and Munster are already assured of their semi final place.

Republic of Ireland women's team manager Vera Pauw has named a squad of 30 for the upcoming European Championship qualifier against Germany.

There are call ups for uncapped duo Alli Murphy of London City Lionesses and Ellen Molloy of Wexford Youths.

The panel will be cut to 23 ahead of the match in Essen on September 19th.

The 'Girls in Green' are unbeaten in qualifying.

There are two FAI Cup second round matches this evening.

John Caulfield takes charge of Galway United for the first time against Shelbourne at Eamonn Deacy Park.

Athlone Town host Wexford in the Midlands.

Both matches kick off at 7.45.

Elsewhere, Chelsea's busy week in the transfer market is continuing, with the signing of defender Thiago Silva.

The 35 year old has joined on a free transfer from French champions PSG, signing a 12 month deal at Stamford Bridge.

He's Chelsea's third signing of the week, following the arrivals of Ben Chilwell and Malang Sarr.

GOLF

Rory McIlroy goes into round two of the BMW Championship in a tie for fourth place.

He's on level par at Olympia Fields.

Hideki Matsuyama leads on 3 under par.

On the European Tour, Jonathan Caldwell has fallen back to one under par, approaching the midway stage of his second round at the UK Championship at the Belfry.

He's seven shots back from the leader Justin Walters.

Paul Dunne tees off at three o clock, from two over par, while Brendan Lawlor will be hoping for a better day, resuming from 12 over.
