Shane Lowry is in a tie for 5th after shooting a 4-under par 68 in his opening round at the season ending DP World Tour Championship in Dubai.
The Offaly man is four shots behind leader Michael Kim who was still on the course.
Tom McKibbin was two under par after his round, while Rory McIlroy started with two birdies to join him on two under.
