Lowry happy with his start to the Irish Open

Shane Lowry says he's 'pretty happy' to be within touching distance of the leaders into day two at golf's Irish Open.

The 2009 champion is three shots back after opening with a three-under-par round of 69 at the K Club.

Lowry has a new driver in his bag this week, and he's says it was a decent first day for him

Rory McIlroy goes into the second round this afternoon from one-under, with Padraig Harrington resuming from two-over.

Nacho Elvira, Thorbjorn Olesen and Romain Langasque share the lead on six-under.

A few players will have to complete their first round this morning - that's after a rain delay during yesterday's play at the Straffan course.
