Liverpool sporting director to step down at the end of the season

Liverpool have confirmed Michael Edwards will be stepping down as sporting director when his contract expires at the end of the season.

He joined the Premier League club 10 years ago and will be replaced by Julian Ward.

Edwards has been linked with taking up a similar role in player recruitment at Newcastle.
