Ballyheigue held a 3 points to 1 advantage after 7 minutes. However, 4 in a row for Kilmoyley put them 2 to the good. It was 6 points all after 20 minutes, and 8 all with 5 minutes left in the period. Kilmoyley were first to find the net, Robert Collins obliging to send his side 3 clear. It was a lead that would not last long.

Kilmoyley then equalised but back to back Ballyheigue points gave them a 1-11 to 1-9 lead. That closed out the first half scoring.

Kilmoyley went ahead by 1-15 to 1-14 after ten minutes of the half. Their lead was just the one at 1-17 to 1-16 with 8 minutes remaining. Ballyheigue then fired over the equaliser.
