Kerry's Kenny out of World Championships

Kerry's David Kenny is out of the World Championships in Tokyo.

The Farranfore Maine Valley man has pulled out of the 20k race walk due to recent illness.

Athletics Ireland say "despite his best efforts, Saturday’s race will come too soon for Kenny".

Cian McPhillips and Mark English have both qualified for the Men's 800 metres semi-finals.

McPhillips produced a brilliant run to win the first heat, while English's third-place finish in his heat sees him progress.

Sarah Healy finished 10th in the final of the 15-hundred metres.

There was disappointment for Sharlene Mawdsley, who she missed out on a place in the Women's 400 metres final.
