Gavin Brouder certainly ended his week on a high when riding a winner at Clonmel on Friday and following up with success at both Punchestown fixtures over the weekend. The Full Of Hope Syndicate-owned four-year-old Tassarolo gave him his Clonmel victory when taking the opening two-mile maiden hurdle for trainer Denis Hogan. A well-supported 3/1 favourite, he led before the second-last hurdle and saw off the challenge of the Aidan Howard-trained 11/2 shot Bhean Saibhre by two and three-parts of a length.
Brouder was on the mark for champion trainer Willie Mullins whose treble at Punchestown on Saturday was made up of odds-on winning favourites which were each ridden by different jockeys. The Listowel man landed his second winner in two days when partnering 8/11 favourite Joueur Masque to take the two-mile maiden hurdle. The JP McManus-owned six-year-old made all the running to beat Ross O'Sullivan’s 100/30 chance Harry’s Legacy by six and a half lengths. Sean Cleary-Farrell took the two-mile three-furlong maiden hurdle on the Donald Galt-owned 10/11 favourite Sysko while Patrick Mullins had an easy time of it in bringing up his father’s treble on the 1/2 favourite Day Crocket in the concluding bumper.
The 20/1 chance Hardwired rounded off a fruitful spell for Brouder when taking the two and a half-mile handicap chase at Punchestown on Sunday. Trained by Ted Walsh for owner Zorcha Wentworth, the nine-year-old landed his third win at the track when seeing off the Gavin Cromwell-trained 2/1 joint-favourite Antrim Coast by half a length.
