Queenofthelodge won the two and a quarter-mile mares’ handicap hurdle for Philip Enright at Downpatrick on Friday. Trained by Sam Curling for the Sink Or Swim Syndicate, the 4/1 chance led at the second-last hurdle and battled well to see off Noel Meade’s 9/1 shot Billie Frechette by three-parts of a length.
Enright was a winner again at Cork the following afternoon where the Robert Tyner-trained 7/2 chance Wyoming Baby won the handicap hurdle over three miles. The One In The Barrell Syndicate-owned seven-year-old gained a narrow advantage over the final hurdle and he held Terence O'Brien’s 9/1 shot Stellar Symphony by a neck.
Gavin Brouder landed a narrow success on the Colm Murphy-trained the seven-year-old Cadatharla in the three and a quarter-mile handicap chase at Killarney on Sunday. Owned by JP McManus, the 11/1 chance got up in the final stride to pip Willie Mullins’ 11/4 favourite Paggane and Paul Townend by a nose.
