The Ben Kennedy-ridden 11/1 chance Circus Act won the two and a half-mile opportunity handicap hurdle at Down Royal on Sunday. Owned and trained by James Nash, the six-year-old led before the final hurdle and got the better of Jarlath Fahey’s 3/1 shot Bayou Belle.
At odds of 13/2, the 10-year-old Rochestown scored a narrow success for Phillip Enright in the two-mile five-furlong handicap chase at Tramore on Sunday. Trained by Brendan Walsh, he battled well from the final fence to win by a neck from Davy Fitzgerald’s 5/1 shot General Clermont which was ridden by Gavin Brouder. The two-mile handicap chase went the way of the Charles Coakley-trained 7/2 co-favourite Prince Of Air. Ridden by Shane O’Callaghan, the eight-year-old made all the running and held the Pat Cronin-trained 9/1 chance Onebrightbluerose by half a length to score for the Eleven Grumpy Men Syndicate.
