Kerry are into the Electric Ireland All Ireland Minor Football Final.
In the last four of the 2020 Championship they defeated Roscommon 3-21 to 2-13 in the LIT Gaelic Grounds, Limerick.
Roscommon started much the better and had 3 successive points inside the opening 4 minutes. A Cian McMahon point from a free in the 6th minute saw Kerry get on the scoreboard. Darragh O'Sullivan then narrowed the gap to one. A 9th minute Keith Evans goal, following a fantastic flowing move, had Kerry in front for the first time on the day Roscommon responded with 2 quick points to draw level at 1-2 to 0-5 after 12 minutes. Just before the water break Roscommon pointed to go in front. Upon the resumption the Kingdom levelled and then took full advantage of the resultant kickout to find the net, courtesy of Darragh O'Sullivan Kerry now held a 2-3 to 0-6 advantage but that lead didn't last long as Roscommon goaled themselves The scoring continued as 7 points in a row gave Kerry the lead by that same tally at 2-10 to 1-6 after 30 minutes. Roscommon pulled one back before the break. At the short whistle Kerry led 2-10 to 1-7.
Kerry had 4 of the first 6 points of the second period (Cian McMahon 2, William Shine, Darragh O'Sullivan) to extend their advantage to 2-14 to 1-9 after 38 minutes. Come the water break Kerry led 2-17 to 1-10. Roscommon quickly ate into the Kerry lead, scoring a point and then a goal A further point cut the gap to 5 with 10 minutes remaining. However, some quick thinking when Kerry were awarded a free close to goal steadied the ship as Cian McMahon netted Kerry saw the game out to ensure their spot in the final against Derry next weekend.
