After a barren weekend for Kerry players on the prize front at both the Douglas and Riverdale (Nenagh) Scratch Cups, county honours will be on the line this Sunday in Deerpark with the staging of the County Adult Strokeplay Championships.
Play will be over 36 holes initially with a playoff for the top players in each of the three Mens grades as the County Board wishes all players taking part the very best of luck. Sunday’s timesheet will be announced nearer to the weekend as we wish to remind all competitors that the event is a dress code competition. June is a busy month itself with the staging of the Paul O’Sullivan Memorial Open in Listowel from June 18th-20th, the first time an Open will be held at a Kerry course for 14 years while the following weekend sees the Castleisland Scratch Cups take place on Saturday June 27th, the same day our ‘Songo’ Fundraiser takes place in the Na Gaeil GAA Clubhouse in Tralee that night.
Elsewhere details of our U16 programme for the summer have been confirmed. Firstly, the trials for the Kerry U16 team are as follows: (i) Thursday June 18th Deerpark 6pm (ii) Wednesday June 24th Tralee 6pm and (iii) Saturday July 4th County Strokeplay in Listowel 9.30am. All play over 36 holes with each round treated as an 18-hole card with best four out of six cards to count towards a player's score. We await full details of the Munster and National Inter-County events.
Finally, the County U16 Matchplay will be held late August/early September in Tralee later this year.
