The Kerry U15 Boys made a scorching start on Day 1 of the Barcelona International Cup, topping their group after three brilliant performances!. They now head into today’s semi-final full of momentum, chasing a spot in the final and a shot at the cup!
Kerry came flying out of the blocks in their opening game against Hanover Harps, winning 5-0 and immediately setting the tone for the day. From the first whistle, their sharp passing and clinical finishing had Hanover on the back foot.
Ryan Vickers opened the scoring before Cade Jameson doubled the lead before halftime with a powerful strike. After the break, Kerry stepped up the intensity. Eoin Casey made it 3-0 with a composed finish.
Oisín Cryan added a fourth, before Kiernan Kelly rounded off a commanding team performance with a fifth goal.
The second match of the day was a much tighter affair against a physically strong US Millery Vourles side.
Kerry's defence was tested throughout, but the backline remained disciplined and composed under pressure.
Although chances were limited for both sides, Kerry’s work rate and tactical discipline earned them a valuable point and a consecutive clean sheet.
Kerry saved their best for last, delivering a scintillating attacking display against Swindon Town in the final group game.
Darragh Keane opened the scoring with a clinical finish, beforeRyan Vickers continued his fine form, adding the second.
Cade Jameson made it 3-0 before, Keane slotted his second goal to make it 4-0 approaching half-time, with Kerry firmly in control.
In the second half, Kerry failed to let off the gas. Darragh Keane completed his hat-trick with another brilliant strike.
Lúc MacGearailt got on the scoresheet with a well-taken goal, Donnacha Vaughan found the net with a composed finish, before Lachlan Scannell rounded off the scoring to complete the 8-0 win.
It was a dominant, energetic performance that sent a clear message to the rest of the competition, Kerry want to leave with silverware, and an unbeaten start yet to concede a goal, certainly emphasised that.
Kerry now move into the semi-finals full of confidence, showcasing both attacking firepower and defensive resilience, they meet Don Bosco FC at 3:15pm.
