An unforgettable day for Kerry U15 Boys, as they delivered two superb performances to lift the Barcelona International Cup in style! After dominating their semi-final and final, the boys celebrated a well-deserved victory in Spain.
After their impressive showing on Saturday in the group stage, it was all about knockout action on Sunday. The semi-final against Don Bosco FC saw Kerry pick up right where they left off. Adrian O'Connor opened the scoring early before Darragh Keane doubled the advantage with another composed finish. Cade Jameson added a third before halftime to put Kerry firmly in control. Keane completed the 4-0 victory with his second of the game in the second half, securing their spot in the final with another dominant display.
In the tournament decider against Aquinas FC, Kerry once again came flying out of the traps. Darragh Keane settled the nerves with an early goal, and two quickfire strikes from Cade Jameson gave Kerry a commanding 3-0 lead at the interval. Aquinas pulled one back after the break, but Kerry’s solid defence and game management ensured there would be no late drama, as they closed out a deserved 3-1 win to be crowned Barcelona International Cup champions.
There was further individual recognition for the team’s standout performers. Evan Foley was awarded Best Goalkeeper of the Tournament after an outstanding weekend between the posts, Darragh Keane claimed the Top Goalscorer award for his prolific finishing, and Cade Jameson was deservedly named Best Player of the Tournament for his all-round brilliance.
