Kerry have exited the Ladies All-Ireland Senior Football Championship.
They were beaten by Donegal 2-13 to 2-9.
In a game that started with end to end football, Kerry led 4 points to 3 going into the first half water break, although Kerry could have been behind, a shot in front of goal blasted wide in a certain goal chance. Hannah O Donoghue, Louise Galvin and Louise Ni Mhuircheartaigh with the Kerry scores.
The Kingdom came out of the blocks in the early stages of the 2nd quarter, with two quick fire points from Niamh Carmody and Hannah O Donoghue to make it double scores 0-6 to 0-3.
But 2 goals in the space of 2 minutes for Donegal flipped the tie in their favour as we moved towards the interval, 2-6 to 0-7 at the break.
Donegal kicked 3 points to extend their lead before a Louise Ní Mhuircheartaigh goal brought Kerry back into the encounter. With 17 minutes to go Kerry trailed 2-10 to 1-7. Donegal were ahead 2-11 to 1-8 at the water break. A Niamh Carmody goal 14 minutes from time meant just a 3 point deficit for the Kingdom. Kerry cut that gap to 2 but back to back Donegal points doubled their advantage; 2-13 to 2-9 with 5 mins left.
