Kerry have drawn with Galway in the Allianz Football League.
It ended 2-17 to 3-14 in Austin Stack Park, Tralee
Kerry's Dylan Casey had the first score after 2 minutes. Team mates Micheal Burns, in the 6th minute, and Keith Evans, after 8 minutes, extended the Kingdom advantage to 3 points to nil. Galway had their first point in the 10th minute. Kerry led 4-2 after quarter of an hour. The game then exploded into life. Kerry stole possession close to the Galway goal in the 19th minute. After Tony Brosnan's initial shot was saved, Keith Evans was on hand to put home the rebound. Galway themselves goaled a minute later, courtesy of Matthew Tierney. That made it 1-4 to 1-2, Kerry ahead by 2. Back to back David Clifford 2 pointers stretched the Kingdom advantage to 6. Those superb kicks made it 1-8 to 1-2 for Kerry after 23 minutes. A Galway point stopped the rot but only momentarily. A high ball into the Galway box was not dealt with and David Clifford was on hand to goal to make it Kerry 2-8 Galway 1-3. Two more Kerry points before the break gave the Kingdom a ten point lead at 2-10 to 1-3.
Ten minutes into the second half Kerry still led by ten, 2-12 to 1-5. It was double scores after 48 minutes, 2-14 to 1-7. Galway were unable to eat into the Kerry lead, a superb point blank save from Shane Murphy denying the tribesmen in the 55th minute. That kept it at 2-15 to 1-8. By the 61st minute Galway had played themselves back into contention at 2-16 to 2-11. Cian Hernon it was who netted for the visitors. The next score was also a Galway goal, John Maher bringing the gap down to 2 with 5 minutes remaining; 2-16 to 3-11. Galway halved the deficit in the 67th minute. Dylan Casey put Kerry 2 clear again after 68 minutes; 2-17 to 3-12. A Shane McGrath 2 pointer leveled matters in the final minute. Donagh O'Sullivan had the chance to win it for Kerry at the death but his effort went wide.
