Former footballer of the year James O’Donoghue has left the Kerry senior football panel.
The news comes five days out from the Kingdom’s Munster final date with Cork.
O’Donoghue has not been part of any of Peter Keane’s matchday squads so far this season.
James last donned the Green and Gold in the Allianz Football League in 2020 and hasn’t made the matchday 26 this year.
He played for Killarney Legion against Kenmare Shamrocks in the County League last weekend, scoring 1-2.
County Board Chairman Tim Murphy has said James indicated that he wanted to take time away from Kerry and focus his attention on the club to get some form back.
The 2014 Footballer of the year has 1 All Ireland, 8 Munster Championships and 2 All Stars.
