Phil Healy has missed out on a place in the women's 200 metres semi-finals after coming fifth of five runners in the heats overnight.

Healy ran a time of 23.21 seconds - the race was won by Canada's Crystal Emmanuel.

Ciara Mageean and Sarah Healy also missed out on the semi-finals of the women's 15 hundred metres.

American Simone Biles will return to action at the Tokyo Olympics tomorrow after taking a break to protect her mental health.

The 43-year-old New Zealander will compete in the women's over 87kg category.

The International Olympic Committee's current rules state transgender women can compete in accordance with their gender identity if they meet several criteria.
