Galway set to be without forwards Heaney and Culhane for season

Galway's footballers look set to be without forwards Johnny Heaney and Tomo Culhane for the coming season.

The Irish Examiner reports that Heaney has opted to take a year out from the panel, while Culhane recently took part in an American Football kicking session with Darragh Leader.

The Salthill-Knocknacarra clubman has also suffered two recent hamstring injuries.

Galway will be without the services of Young Footballer of the Year nominee Matthew Thompson for the early part of the upcoming intercounty season.

The Salthill-Knocknacarra clubman is heading to the US as part of his studies, ruling him out of the National League and Connacht Championship campaigns.

New Mayo manager Andy Moran says Kobe McDonald will be given 'every opportunity' to play for their senior football team this year.
