GAA
Tributes are being paid to Eamonn Ryan, an iconic figure in Cork gaelic games, who has passed away.
During an eleven year spell in charge of the women’s footballers, he led them to ten All Ireland titles.
They also collected ten Munster titles and nine national leagues during Ryan’s time at the helm.
He also played gaelic football for Cork in the mid-60’s, and in the 80’s managed the Cork men’s side.
Speaking in 2015, Ryan said he never lost his enthusiasm for returning to Croke Park.
Seven-time All Ireland winner Paddy Andrews called time on his Dublin career today.
The St. Brigid’s clubman spent twelve years with the Dubs, winning 23 medals along the way.

The Annual Convention of the North Kerry Hurling Board will be held tonight.
Due to Covid safety protocols, the convention will take place online at 8.00p.m.

East Kerry A.G.M. will take place on Friday 22nd of January at 7.30p.m, so as to give clubs time to discuss potential nominations and motions for the upcoming AGM.
Due to the current restrictions this year’s AGM will be held online.

Arsenal captain Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang admits better discipline has helped turn their form around.

The UK Government have asked the Premier League to clamp down on hugs and handshakes following goals - as the COVID 19 crisis continues.

RUGBY
Wales will be without Liam Williams for their opening Six Nations game against Ireland.
He's been given a three-game ban after being sent-off while playing for Scarlets in their recent Pro14 defeat to Cardiff Blues.
Ireland visit Cardiff on February 7th.
HANDBALL
The World Handball Championships has become the latest sporting event to be cancelled.
GAA Handball confirmed that the event which was to be hosted by Ireland will not take place as scheduled in 2021.
The showpiece takes place every 3 years, rotating between the United States, Canada and Ireland.
Ireland last held the event in 2012, attracting over 2,000 entrants.
No decision has been made yet as to a proposed date for a rescheduled World Championship.
GOLF
Seamus Power is among the early starters today at the Sony Open in Hawaii.
The Waterford native tees off at 5.30pm Irish time in the company of Bill Haas and Talor Gooch.

Andy Murray has tested positive for coronavirus.
It means the former world number one's participation in the Australian Open is now in doubt.
Murray was due to travel to Melbourne on a charter flight but is now self isolating at home in the UK.
The first tennis Grand Slam of the year begins on the 8th of February.

F1 driver Charles Leclerc has tested positive for coronavirus.
The Ferrari racer returned the result during the team's routine testing and is self-isolating at home in Monaco.
The new F1 season will now start in Bahrain in March, after the opening race in Australia was postponed.
