There was heartbreak for Manchester United last night as they lost a dramatic penalty shootout 11-10 to Villarreal in the Europa League final.

 

The match went to spot kicks following a 1-all draw after extra-time in Poland.

Goalkeeper David De Gea missed the decisive penalty after all of United's outfield players had scored.

It all means United's wait for a first trophy under manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer goes on.

 

He feels they let this opportunity slip away.

The United boss admits he did consider replacing goalkeeper David de Gea for last night's penalty shootout in the Europa League final.

The Spaniard conceded all 11 penalties before missing his own spot-kick.

 

Prior to last night, De Gea hadn't saved any of the last 25 penalties he faced and Solskjaer debated bringing on Dean Henderson.
