Michael Langan netted his second 2 pointer to restore Donegal's point advantage.
Michael Murphy got a debatable yellow card for a few kidney punches on Dylan Casey, Kerry fans thinking it could have been a worse punishment for the veteran.
A free brought forward 50 yard gave Murphy a two point score to leave it 1-1 to 0-7 in favour of the side from the North West.
Donegal continued to add to the scoreboard, winning all the ball in midfield with Kerry losing kick-outs. Donegal had a 12 point to 1-1 lead after 25 minutes
The sides just shared a point a piece in the final 10 minutes of the first half, Sean O'Shea getting Kerry's point.

Kerry started the second half with two points in 2 minutes, Sean O'Shea and Keith Evans pointing early on to cut the gap to 6.
But Donegal responded with their first goal of the game in the 42nd minute, Conor O'Donnell blasting into the top corner past Shane Murphy to restore a big lead for Donegal.
And just two minutes later, Michael Murphy got Donegal's second goal of the game, and 60 seconds later, Donegal had a third and the game was over as a contest, 3-13 to 1-4
Donegal outscored Kerry by 5 points to 1 over the next 10 minutes, leading by 20 points with 15 to go.
Paul Geaney entered the fray for the first time this season and converted a lovely two pointer to mark his return.
Kerry did net a second goal late on through David Clifford, albeit a consolation goal.
It was a waiting game for the hooter for the fans and it finished in a X point win for Donegal, 3-20 to 2-10
