Disappointing day for Irish teams

It was a disappointing day for the Irish teams at the World Relays in Botswana today.

The Mixed 4 by 400 metre group of Jack Raftery, Sophie Becker, Seán Doggett and Sharlene Mawdsley narrowly missed out on automatic qualification for the World Championships.

They finished in 10th place overall today in a time of 3:12.05 in Heat 1.

The women’s 4 by 100 metre team of Molly Scott, Ciara Neville, Mollie O’Reilly and Sarah Leahy were unable to get the baton around the track and failed in their heat.

Meanwhile, Rachel McCann, Jenna Breen, Molly Daly and Arlene Crossan ran in the Women’s 4 by 400 metres and finished 4th in their heats but it wasn't enough to progress.

All three teams have another chance to qualify tomorrow.
