0-17 Keel V Duagh 0-11
On a glorious day in Keel, it was the home side who took an early lead with Tommy Buckley getting two scores on the board. The first came from the throw in and this was shortly followed by a free in the 4th minute. Duagh settled into the game and got their first score on the scoreboard in the 7th minute with a point from Seanan O Caoimh. Corner forward Killian Buckley added another from a free after a foul on Maurice O Connor in the 9th minute. David Couchman gave Keel the lead the following minute after a patient buildup by Keel. Seán Cremins won the kickout and Thomas Ladden and Shane Evans set up Keith Evans for a well taken score to give Keel a two-point lead after 11 minutes. Nigel O’Connor converted another free for the visitors after Ted Moloney was fouled 21 meters out from goals. Keel retained possession for the next 6 minutes and got some vital scores on the board. Garret Prendiville kicked an excellent point off the left in the 16th minute. This was quickly following with a point from wing back Seán Corcoran. Duagh won the next kickout and attacked as speed, but Keith Evans made an excellent dispossession and set up his brother Shane to drive at the Duagh defense which resulted in him being fouled. Tommy Buckley converted the free from 35 meters out. Keel led by 4 points after 22 minutes. Duagh’s full back Aaron O’ Connor won the kickout and with his half back line worked the ball up the field. The Keel defense did well to stop them up, but the ball was touched on the ground which resulted in them getting a score on the board with a free from their team captain Nigel O’ Connor. Full forward Maurice O Connor narrowed the gap to two points which he put one between the posts in the 25th minute. Tommy Buckley won the short kick out and was subsequently fouled by the Duagh’s Nigel O’ Connor. Seán Corcoran took the free and Darragh O Dowd and Lachlan Griffin worked well to set up Tommy Buckley. Buckley was fouled again and he put the ball between the posts from 45 meters out. Duagh were awarded a free after a foul on attacking corner back Luke O’ Donnell. Nigel O’Connor converted the free and this was answered with a point from play from Tommy Buckley before Cathal O Dúbhda blew the half time whistle. It was Keel 0-09 Duagh 0-06 at the break.

Nigel O’Connor opened the scoring for the visitors in the second half with a free from 35 meters out. A dispossession by Seán Corcoran allowed Keel to attack up the field through Daniel Ashe and Thomas Ladden, who set up David Couchman for the next score. This was answered with a point from wing forward Oisin Moloney. The Keel defense worked hard to get the ball into their forward line. Seán Corcoran attacked from deep before giving the ball to Lachlan Griffin. Griffin set up Couchman for a goal chance, but his effort went over the bar. Duagh had a chance to kick another between the posts after working the ball up the field, but this effort went to the left and wide. Couchman set up Keith Evans from a sideline ball and Evans drove at the Duagh defense and slotted one over off the left. Keel led by 4 after 8 minutes. Killian Buckley reduced the gap to 3 with a free from the 13-meter line. Thomas Ladden set up Couchman on the other side for his 3rd score of the day. However, Duagh kept the shoulder to the wheel and got another point from their midfielder Kieran Lucey. Keel added three unanswered points from a free from Tommy Buckley and two points from play from Keith Evans before both sides were reduced to 14 men. It was Keel 0-16, Duagh 0-10 after 25 minutes. Maurice O’ Connor added another in the 29th minute but it was too late for the visitors. Daniel Ashe had a goal chance in injury time when he made a driving run from wing back, but he fisted the ball over the bar for the final score of the game. It finished Keel 0-17, Duagh 0-11.
