Currow report: The home side started strongest with points from Cathal Brosnan & John McMahon, which was followed up with a goal from John O’Connor. Sneem/Derrynane kept themselves in touch with a brilliant trio of two point efforts from their wing forward line. These two point scores were responded with another well taken point from Cathal Brosnan and a brace of scores from Luke Fitzgerald & Conor Sheahan. ‘15mins CURROW 1-05 : SNEEM/DERRYNANE 0-06 The southerners hit back with a fine goal from their ever dangerous no. 11 as Currow’s talisman Cathal Brosnan added an excellent two point effort. Both sides traded scores as the half came to a close before a powerful run from Brosnan, deep from midfield was finished to the back of the net with aplomb. HT CURROW 2-10: SNEEM/DERRYNANE 1-11
John Curtin opened the second half proceedings with a coolly taken effort which was followed up 2 minutes later with a point from the Sneem/Derrynane.no.10. Currow’s Dan Shea added a pointed free in the 34th minute and a minute later the visitor’s responded with a point from their no.8. Over the next 10 minutes the home side hit 5 unanswered points (Dan Shea 0-04 (3f), Conor Sheahan 0-01) to firmly put themselves in control of the encounter. Sneem / Derrynane valiantly tried to stop the bleed and hit another thunderous two pointer from their no.11 to keep themselves in contention. Currow’s experience and scoring prowess ultimately held firm however and they ran out comfortable 4 point winners at the final whistle.
