Chelsea owner sanctioned by the UK government

Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich has been sanctioned by the UK government.

The Russian oligarch has had his assets frozen over his links to Vladimir Putin.

The measures will put the sale of the club on hold, though Chelsea have been granted a licence to continue football-related operations.

Abramovich has been trying to sell Chelsea since Russia's invasion of Ukraine.
