Barnsley appoint former Ireland international as new head coach

League One side Barnsley have appointed former Republic of Ireland international Conor Hourihane as their new head coach.

The Cork native - who had spells as a player with Aston Villa and Derby - returned to Oakwell in the summer as a player-coach to assist Darrell Clarke.

Following Clarke's exit last month, Hourihane's been in charge for the last six games and will now take the job permanently.
