Elsewhere, Egypt defeated New Zealand 3-1, with Mohamed Salah scoring his first goal of the tournament.

While last night, Belgium were held to a nil-nil draw by Iran, and Spain hammered Saudi Arabia 4-nil.

This evening's action at the world cup sees pre tournament favourites and defending champions Argentina face Austria in group J from 6pm.

In the same group at 4am tomorrow, Jordan take on Algeria.

Tonight from 10, in group I, it's a meeting of France and Iraq.

At 1am tomorrow, Norway face Senegal in the same group.
