Co-hosts Mexico have got off to a perfect start in the opening game at the biggest ever World Cup.

They beat nine-man South Africa 2-nil in a match that had three red cards.

Wolves striker Raul Jimenez and Julian Quinones ((pron: hoolee-ahn kee-nyoh-ness)) scored the goals at the Azteca Stadium.

Elsewhere in Group A, South Korea fought back from a goal down to claim a 2-1 win over the Czech Republic in Guadalajara.

The other two host nations are in action later - with more opening ceremonies.

Michael Buble's one of the performers ahead of Canada taking on Bosnia and Herzegovina in Toronto. 8pm.

Katy Perry is the headline act in Los Angeles, where the USA face Paraguay in a 2am kick-off.
