3-1 to Europe in opening foursomes

Team Europe have taken a 3-1 lead following the morning foursomes on Day One of the Ryder Cup.

Rory McIlroy and Tommy Fleetwood picked up a 5-and-4 win over Collin Morikawa and Harris English at Bethpage Black.

Jon Rahm and Tyrrell Hatton were 4-and-3 winners against Bryson DeChambeau and Justin Thomas.

While it was a 5-and-3 win for Ludvig Aberg and Matt Fitzpatrick against Scottie Scheffler and Russell Henley.

Rob MacIntyre and Viktor Hovland were beaten Xander Schauffele and Patrick Cantlay by 2.

McIlroy will be partnered by Shane Lowry in the final fourball match against Sam Burns and Patrick Cantlay.
