World War II Hero’s Image Defaced With Hitler Reference – April 22nd, 2024
Monsignor Hugh O’Flaherty who grew up in Killarney helped save the lives of around 6,500 Jewish people and Allied soldiers in Rome during World War II. There is a mural in his honour on the Matt Talbot Road in Tralee. Over the weekend, the image was defaced with a reference to Hitler and a Hitler-style moustache daubed on the monsignor’s image. Jerry spoke to Sinn Féin councillor Cathal Foley.

Carla the cat, a much-loved family pet who was rescued and given a home by a Tralee woman, was shot with a pellet gun on Tuesday evening in an estate in the town. Cllr Cathal Foley has condemned this behaviour and has appealed to the public to come forward with information about the incident

Paddy Kevane has announced he is running for Sinn Féin in the Tralee Local Electoral area. He’s the fourth candidate to run for the party in this LEA for June’s council elections joining sitting councillors Deirdre Ferris and Cathal Foley, as well as another newcomer Paul Daly.
