Learning Waves Journalism Graduate Programme Opens Applications for 2026
Are you a Journalism or Media student preparing to graduate and dreaming of a career in news or sport broadcasting?
Applications are now open for the 2026 Learning Waves Journalism Graduate Programme, giving ten graduates the opportunity to gain hands-on experience working in independent radio stations across Ireland.
The programme, delivered in partnership with Coimisiún na Meán and Skillnet Ireland, will begin in September 2026 and run for five months.
Successful applicants will work directly alongside experienced News and Sports Editors, developing practical newsroom skills while contributing to live radio output.
Participants will gain real-world experience in journalism, broadcasting, editorial decision-making, content creation, interviewing, and audio production, while also building confidence in a fast-paced media environment.
As part of the programme, graduates will complete a bespoke training course developed by Learning Waves Skillnet to support their professional growth and prepare them for long-term careers within the radio industry.
The initiative aims to support emerging journalism talent while strengthening the future of independent radio broadcasting in Ireland.

This course is designed and delivered by Learning Waves Skillnet, co-funded by the Government of Ireland and the European Union, and supported by participating independent radio stations throughout Ireland.
