Episode 5 of The New Residents podcast marks Irish Refugee Week (16-22 June) with a special conversation about the meaning of the word refugee — and the stigma that too often surrounds it.
Our guests are two young women who came to Kerry in search of safety: Aina Oleniyan from Nigeria and Daria Samoilenko from Ukraine. In this episode, they share their stories of starting over, continuing their education and careers. They also reflect on the kindness they’ve received in Ireland, the challenges they’ve faced — and the hopes they carry for the future.
