There are calls for social media companies to bring their age limits in line with Ireland's digital consent laws.

Currently, the apps allow those aged 13 and up to create accounts, despite the fact the digital age of consent is 16.

According to new data by Cybersafe Kids, 84% of under 12s have their own social media or instant messaging account.
