Hundreds of jellyfish are being bred at Dingle Oceanworld in Co. Kerry using methods pioneered by pioneering Valentia Island naturalist Maude Delap, the first person in the world to successfully rear jellyfish in captivity. The aquarium's mesmerising jellyfish display has been dedicated to Delap, whose groundbreaking research in the late 19th century helped unlock the complex life cycle of the species. Marine biologist Kevin Flannery said Delap's remarkable achievements continue to inspire scientists today, with her innovative work forming the foundation for modern jellyfish husbandry and research more than a century later.

The St. Brendan Navigator Festival celebrated the maritime heritage of Tralee Bay and honoured Kerry’s famous seafaring saint, Saint Brendan. Held from 14 to 17 May 2026, the festival brought together local communities and visitors for a weekend of cultural showcases, local food, music and water-based activities. A colourful community procession was among the highlights of the event, reflecting the strong sense of pride and tradition within the area. The festival celebrated St Brendan’s enduring legacy of exploration, courage and connection to the sea.

Having regard to theme I attach some photos of Killarney Races which I took with Killarney Camera Club at May meeting following a request from Race Company to club.Fortunately we were blessed with lovely summer weather for occasion.First shot shows horses in full flight with mountains in background.Second shot shows excited young punters celebrating a win.Final shot shows some hardy old boys casting an astute, cold eye on proceedings. This latter image is my favourite shot as these old boys couldn't be bothered posing and enabled me to get a great candid shot.As I was taking shot one wag in company piped up"whats this for,CRIMELINE"??? ,much to the merriment of all.It kind of befitted the setting and image perfectly.Hard to beat the locals for craic and wit.

Best regards
