Fianna Fáil justice spokesperson Jim O’Callaghan says the fitness levels required of garda recruits may deter people from applying to join the force. However, the Garda Representative Association disagrees. Jerry speaks to the GRA’s Kerry representative, Eddie Walsh. The association, which represents rank-and-file gardaí, says that abuse, online and in the real world, along with working conditions are the real reasons that people don’t want to join.
